The Team
Christine Rizzo
Partner
A member of the Brussels Bar since 2010, Christine advises and represents both companies and workers in employment relations law. She was awarded the title of specialist in employment law in 2025.
Managing employment relationships from recruitment to termination, drafting contracts, social audits for acquisition projects, well-being at work and false self-employment are part of her daily practice. Familiar with both negotiations and courtrooms, she gained experience with international clients and in a specialist firm before founding her own practice in 2024.
She partnered with Stephanie Michiels in September 2025 to co-found Rizzo & Michiels in 2026. She therefore knows first-hand the decisions facing a growing organisation (first recruitments, internal organisation, strategic decisions), experience she puts directly at the service of the SME, micro-enterprise and start-up leaders she supports.
She co-chairs the Brussels Bar's Psychosocial Well-being Commission and is involved in the non-profit association MIATA. In 2018–2019, together with Stephanie Michiels and the Brussels Young Bar Conference team, she also launched the first edition of the Telephone Legal Clinic. She is also a member of the Association des Juristes Praticiens du Droit Social.
Stephanie Michiels
Partner
Admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2015, Stephanie Michiels assists workers, employers and officials or other staff of the European Union in managing their employment relationships.
Her practice rests on a dual expertise that is rare in Brussels: Belgian employment law (dismissal, harassment, discrimination, false self-employment, remuneration, employment contracts and work rules) and European civil service law (the status of officials and other staff, EPSO competitions, family allowances, pensions, promotion, non-renewal of contracts, proceedings before the General Court and the Court of Justice of the EU).
A former legal officer in the European Commission's Legal Service and Directorate-General for Human Resources, she has an in-depth understanding of how the European institutions operate. Having also been seconded to companies on several occasions, she has developed a pragmatic and entrepreneurial approach to law, closely aligned with her clients' operational realities.
Trilingual in French, Dutch and English, she advises and pleads in all three languages, an essential asset in a Belgian and European environment.
Arnaud Vanderhoeven Jacobs
Associate lawyer
A member of the Brussels Bar since 2018, Arnaud focuses his practice on employment and social security law.
He developed his knowledge alongside a lawyer recognised in these fields, acquiring broad experience across the different aspects of employment relationships, acting for both employers and workers in advisory work and litigation.
He favours a pragmatic approach focused on finding solutions, without ever losing sight of the need for rigorous and tenacious representation when required.
He joins Rizzo & Michiels as an associate lawyer on 1 October 2026.
Romain Archalaüs Hautecourt
Trainee lawyer
Romain has been a trainee lawyer at the Brussels Bar since 2024 and practises employment and social security law.
His focus on these areas developed between 2022 and 2024, when he worked as a legal officer at a law firm specialising in social law, alongside a recognised lawyer in the field. During this time, he gained extensive experience advising and assisting both employers and employees.
Since joining the Bar, he has further developed his practice through both legal advice and litigation. He was drawn to employment law because of its human and practicadimension: employment-related issues have a direct impact on the daily lives, security and well-being of those concerned.
He sees his role as that of a trusted adviser, combining legal rigour, attentive listening and pragmatism.
